Although the design did not secure first place, Elefant distinguished itself through a thoughtful approach that balanced flexibility, preservation, and contemporary educational needs. Central to the proposal was the idea of reversibility, ensuring that the church’s spatial character and atmosphere could remain largely untouched—an essential principle in the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Rather than dominating the space, the interventions were conceived as light, modern layers within the church interior, allowing the historic architecture to retain its presence while accommodating new uses.
