The future is uncertain, which is why our buildings must be adaptable—capable of evolving, transforming, and welcoming functions we cannot yet predict.
Parking House Else Alfeldt has been conceived as more than just a space for cars. It is a structure designed to shift with time, supporting future uses as needs change. By embedding flexibility from the very beginning, the project ensures long-term value—financially, socially, and environmentally.
Instead of a rigid concrete frame, the design employs a straightforward wooden column-and-beam system, allowing for reconfiguration and reuse. Generous ceiling heights and detachable floor decks make it possible to introduce entirely new functions in the years ahead, securing the building’s relevance far beyond its original purpose.
