The project proposes a new link between the riverside area of Cais do Ginjal and the higher ground of Almada. The site is marked by challenging geological conditions, with layers of clay, sand, limestone, and sandstone creating unstable ground. In response, the structure is designed as a steel truss that rests on only two points, forming an inclined bridge.
Beyond its role as infrastructure, the bridge also integrates housing and service spaces. Prefabricated timber units are placed above the steel framework and are accessed through stairways and lifts incorporated into the supporting system.
Conceived as a prototype, the design is adaptable to steep and irregular terrain, offering a model that can be adjusted to varying slopes without disturbing the fragile ground conditions. At the same time, it aims to contribute to the regeneration of the riverside landscape by introducing new forms of connectivity and use.
