boltshauser

Trained in the rich architectural culture of Zurich, Roger Boltshauser has developed a practice that consistently stands apart from prevailing currents. After teaching alongside Peter Märkli as a studio assistant at ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne in the late 1990s, he pursued a trajectory defined by personal fascinations and themes. His work challenges the canon of modernism through contemporary construction techniques and environmental principles, while reassessing the timeless fundaments of architecture. Known for a sensuous handling of proportion, composition, and materiality, Boltshauser brings a refreshing directness to his buildings. Alongside practice, he has remained deeply engaged in teaching, shaping a younger generation of architects at ETH Zurich and other schools across Switzerland.
